Discussion • Output JSON formatted graph data for drawing external graphs?

I'm using the gtype=export option in custom charts to produce some CSV exports which I'm then parsing on the client side for a new web-front end.

However it would be brilliant if meteoplug offered the ability to output data as a JSON array instead of just a table or CSV. I noticed that it sort of does this internally to draw the actual graphs, but there doesn't appear to be a way of just extracting the graph data alone in JSON format?

Is this a feature that could maybe be added, or is there a way of achieving this with the current capabilities? I did consider building a template file and doing it that way, but it feels like quite a clunky way of doing it and doesn't lend itself to being able to then pass the "chart" time parameters like "timeframe=" / "resolutions=", etc.

Any thoughts/ideas most appreciated!
